Cyber maturity assessment
An Evidence-Based Baseline of Your Cyber Security Capability
iSpyCyber’s cyber maturity assessment measures how well your organisation governs, identifies, protects, detects, responds to and recovers from cyber threats. Using NIST CSF 2.0, CIS Controls v8 and C2M2-style maturity scoring, we show leadership exactly where you stand today, where you need to be and the most efficient path to get there.
Why organisations choose iSpyCyber
Clear, defensible scores
A consistent maturity scale applied to every practice, so results are comparable across business units and over time.
Validated, not self-reported
Scores are challenged against evidence and spot technical checks, not taken from questionnaires alone.
Threat-informed priorities
Our offensive security experience shows which gaps attackers actually exploit, so the roadmap targets real risk.
Target profiles that fit
Target maturity is set by your risk appetite, sector and regulators, not by a generic ideal.
Investment-ready roadmap
Prioritised initiatives with effort, dependencies and expected risk reduction that leadership can fund.
Progress you can measure
Periodic reassessment tracks improvement, and iefyx, our AI-native VAPT platform, adds continuous technical exposure data.
Coverage
Capability Areas We Assess
The assessment spans all six NIST CSF 2.0 functions and maps to CIS Controls v8, so both strategy and technical hygiene are measured.

Effort distribution
Where the assessment time goes
Most of the effort goes into gathering evidence and validating scores with the people who run your controls. Percentages are indicative for a typical enterprise assessment.
Quality built into every phase
Consistent scoring
One calibrated scale applied across every practice and unit.
Evidence-validated
Self-assessed answers are tested before they are scored.
Cross-functional input
Security, IT, risk and business owners all contribute.
Actionable outcomes
Every gap maps to a roadmap initiative with an owner.
Engagement options
Choose the Assessment Depth That Fits Your Goals
Every option uses the same scoring model, so results remain comparable as you move from a first baseline to ongoing measurement.
Rapid baseline
A workshop-led assessment of the core practices with an indicative maturity score. Best for new security leaders and board briefings.
Full maturity assessment
Evidence-validated scoring across all functions and controls with a detailed roadmap. Best for strategy setting, budget planning and regulator engagement.
Continuous maturity programme
Periodic reassessment, roadmap tracking and board reporting across the year. Best for organisations measuring progress against a multi-year plan.
Not sure which option you need?
Our specialists will recommend an approach based on your size, sector and security objectives.

The basics
What is a cyber maturity assessment?
A cyber maturity assessment measures how completely and consistently your organisation performs recognised security practices, scores each one on a defined maturity scale and compares the result with a target profile set by your risk appetite.
Which frameworks do you use?
We assess against NIST CSF 2.0 and CIS Controls v8, and use C2M2-style maturity indicator levels for scoring. Results can be cross-mapped to ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-53 and sector regulations.
How is this different from an audit?
An audit tests whether specific controls meet defined criteria and reports pass or fail observations. A maturity assessment measures capability on a scale and focuses on the roadmap to improve it.
Working with us
How long does an assessment take?
Most assessments take three to six weeks, depending on the number of business units, locations and stakeholders involved. A rapid baseline can be completed in less time.
Do we need to prepare anything?
We provide a structured evidence request and workshop schedule. Having policies, architecture diagrams and key security metrics available speeds up the assessment.
How often should we reassess maturity?
Annually is common, with lighter reviews after major changes. Consistent scoring lets you report progress to the board over time.
